On "The World's Most Important Hip Hop Podcast"...
New episode plus info on Words Beats & Life Festival happening in D.C. & even MORE upcoming conferences and stuff
Hello friends, neighbors, supporters and haters! Back with a quickie to let you know I recently dropped a new episode of Hip-Hop Can Save America! aka ‘the world’s most important Hip Hop podcast.’
Mazi Mutafa is the founding executive director of Words, Beats & Life, a Washington D.C.-based Hip Hop nonprofit working to benefit humanity through Hip Hop. The organization hosts classes, workshops and seminars with youth and adults in mind, created the first peer-reviewed academic Hip Hop journal, and this weekend, will be anointing the first ever ‘rap laureate’ (SPOILER: It’s Lupe Fiasco!)
This week and weekend in and around Washington, D.C., WBL is hosting the 7th Annual Words, Beats & Life Festival, including a conference on Saturday, April 8, “Remixing the Art of Social Change.” (Going? Me too! See you there.)
Mazi and I kick it about all of this and more. To listen as an audio podcast, search “Hip Hop Can Save America” wherever podcasts can be found, or click this magical link from your preferred listening device.
To watch on YouTube, visit www.youtube.com/mannyfaces (And I’ve been really working hard on these so please squish that Subscribe button and ringding the little bell thing.)
AND NOW A WORD FROM THE WORLD FAMOUS #BABYGIRLFACES…
(New patrons, THANK YOU! Your shoutout is coming soon. #BGF was renegotiating her contract. SMH, kids today…)
SPEAKING OF WHICH…
So, I do this work independent of any institution, and (for the most part) without major sponsors or advertisers (So that trip to D.C. to go to WBL Fest? Out of pocket expense. Sadface.)
I do this in part to maintain my fierce independence — I’ve been known to call out an individual or organization from time to time and don’t ever want to feel restricted in the ways that I try to promote and/or protect Hip Hop culture.
I get paid to do some of the other work you see from me, but Hip-Hop Can Save America! and this newsletter are truly listener/reader supported. And every bit helps. Here are some ways to support.

Or, here on Substack, if that’s your jam. ⬇️
One off donations are also accepted. Venmo (@MC-MF), Cashapp (@MannyFacesMedia).
You can also book me to speak, or hire me to make your podcast.
And as always, the most precious gift is that of evangelizing.
Thank you. 🙏
