Hip Hop Therapy + Education Interviews, Tonight's Livestream & More
And important Hip Hop news & events that aren't about Jay-Z and/or Diddy
Hey friends, neighbors, supporters, and haters! I’ve been quiet lately, but I have been extremely busy — and for very good reasons that I think you’ll be interested in. I’ll explain more soon!
Today, I’m sure our social networks are all abuzz(bee) about the latest rap celebrity scandal… Let me offer a gentle reminder that while those folks might all be Hip Hop, Hip Hop is more than just them. And while these are serious stories that require serious legal and journalistic attention, I won’t pretend that I have enough legal or journalistic knowledge right now to expend words or memes on it — the internet is already overflowing with folks doing that. 😒
While I wait for QUALIFIED people to provide reliable information about those dealings, now is a great time to just continue doing what I do — sharing other stories about Hip Hop — about its innovative qualities, its inventiveness, and the inspiring things it can do to make the world a better place.
The culture requires that we don’t let it be buried in the salacious drama du jour.
So, on that note, here are some things you might have missed, some things to look forward to, and as always, some Hip Hop news that isn’t about THAT kind of issh.

👀 IN CASE YOU MISSED IT…
The last few podcasts/videos we dropped were pretty dope.
🧠 First, I spoke with Dr. James Norris about using Hip Hop as therapy, including the launch of a new initiative, Rhythms of Healing, and his new Hip Hop therapy certificate program for practitioners, teachers, counselors, and more.

🎓 I also previewed the 2nd annual Hip Hop Studies Conference at Howard University, as well as the new Hip Hop Studies Minor program at HU. I’ll be recapping the conference on tonight’s livestream, but the interviews are definitely well worth the listen.

🏫 The latest episode was also on the academic tip. I talked with professor Raney Antoine Jr., who helped launch the nation’s first Bachelor of Science in Hip Hop program at Loyola University in New Orleans. Raney brings important insight regarding how we should be teaching Hip Hop music on the collegiate level.

📺 ON TONIGHT’S LIVESTREAM
Our (usually) weekly livestream show where we look at Hip Hop's cultural impact, and innovative ways in which Hip Hop music and culture can help uplift humanity and improve society.
Tonight, we'll recap the 2nd annual Hip Hop Studies Conference at Howard University, we’ll hear from Joshua “J1” Raiford the VP of Music Programming at Sirius/XM, and share some Hip Hop news that ISN'T about Jay-Z and/or Diddy. (Though we might talk about it ever so briefly.)
